This is the page at Findagrave for the old St. Peter's Cemetery, Mendota, Minnesota. Mendota
[also formerly called St. Pierre or St. Peter's] is across the river from Fort Snelling and was the site of a trading post run by Jean Baptiste Faribault, who lived there. The families of the earliest settlers of Minnesota are buried in that cemetery and, as is common on Findagrave, there is often some genealogical information on the page of individual burials. St. Peter's began as a log church, the second one to be built in Minnesota [the first was erected in the future city of St. Paul] and both were due to the efforts of Father Lucien Galtier. Galtier's first church, called St. Paul's, is no more but St. Peter's was replaced by a stone structure and is the oldest Catholic church still operating in Minnesota today.

Generally, you can search for cemeteries at Findagrave, which have listings of most of their interments, even if they are very old, so if you can find a cemetery near where your ancestor lived, you may find his or her grave page with some helpful info.
