Hi Rivergal, I have Amable Grignon's children up at Trempealeau in my extended family. Which child are they descended from? Hate to say they were from another Wapasha girl...but you must know that. bopeep

Here's the info on the ancestry of my daughters from "Wisconsin Creoles":
Page 308.
"THE MANAIGRE FAMILY Louis Fromme dit Manaigre married CHI WUN (died 1835), daughter of Perriche Grignon and CHAU WAU CAU, and lived at Portage. Some of their children went to the Indian Agency School and later to the school run by the Reverend Cadle at Green Bay. Their children were: Peter (b. 1819) was an interpreter at Fort Winnebago; Josette (b. 1823) married Jean Baptiste Benway; Jane (b. 1825), and Charles (b. 1828)."
The Jean Baptiste Benway was actually "Benoit". I can't vouch for the names of the native women involved. Anyway. my daughters are direct descendants of Jean Baptiste Benoit dit Londrosh and Josette.

I am looking for conection- my grandmother was Hazel George-daughter of Elmer George and Rose forcier. Father was Vincent Forcier-married to henrette grignon. Possibly connected to augustin grignon and buffalo or beaver women? Any ever get that connection?

I know that the Forciers are connected to the Grignons--although I haven't delved into the genealogy of all the descendants. But all the Grignons are related. There was only the one family, started by Pierre Grignon, in America. All you need to do is go to the site I gave at the beginning of this thread and scroll down to "Family #3" of Augustin Grignon, click on "Harriet Grignon", and you will see that Vincent Forcier was her second husband. All of their children are listed there.
