Hi, welcome to the forum! So "Wisconsin Creoles" is still in print. That's good news. I had the hardest time getting hold of a copy and never came across that website in my online search. Thanks a lot for the "heads up" and all the books on that site look interesting and helpful.

Are you able to scan and email a few pages?
I'm looking for pages 216-217 and 324. I'm looking for information on the Carbonneau or Corbonneau dit Provencal family. I don't have $40 to spend on the book right now and haven't been able to find an online or local copy. Thanks!

Hi, Bobloblaw! I never did buy the book so far, but will be glad to help you find some info. I used to have scans of all the pages but the flashdrive I had them on gave up the ghost. For starters, go here and scroll down until you get to the part about Carbonneau dit Provencal: www.docstoc.com/docs/90571501/KEWAUNEE-COUNTY-HISTORICAL-SOCIETYI will try to contact someone and ask for those pages. Probably I will have them by the weekend.

Great, thanks for the info! Here's another link to the Kewaunee county info that doesn't require registration: www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wikchs/Newsletters/2008-July-KCHS-News.pdfI'd come across the LeBlancs before, but hadn't been able to connect them to my ancestors. My ancestors are Mary Jane Provonsal (1861-1906) and her father Francis Provonsal (1811-1869). I'll spend some time reading that book. I think between that and the first article, I'll find the connection.

Bobloblaw, my source hasn't sent me the pages yet. Maybe he forgot and I'll have to remind him. Yes, that's a much better link you gave, much more legible. Try this one, too. A lot of information: www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wijuneau/Provonsal.htmlIt purports to have material from "Wisconsin Creoles" for the early family members. You have to scroll down a bit to find them. The original name was Carbonneau but the family came to be called "Provencal" and then later "LeBlanc" for the reason I gave. But I think you will find a connection for sure.
